PHILIPPIANS 4:10-23

”PEACE IN THE STRUGGLE”

TOPIC:  STRUGGLES MEANT TO TRANSFORM

OPENING QUESTION

We all have difficult times in our lives. Share about one experience. Did you find you were a better person when it was over? Why or why not?

UNDERSTANDING THE STORY

  1. Who came to help Paul while he was in prison? What kind of help did they offer?

  2. In Paul’s expression of gratitude, he explained that he learned to live through a variety of conditions. What were those conditions?

  3. What was Paul’s response to the gifts he received from the Philippians? How does he categorize their gifts and the results of the Philippian church’s faithfulness to him?

  4. In his final greetings, who does Paul unexpectedly mention (vs. 22) and what does this say about Paul’s ministry in prison? How about God’s plan for the Gospel?

LIVING THE STORY

  1. Share a time when you knew or suspect that God met a need in a surprising way. Have you ever experienced surprising results from helping others? Share those with the group.

  2. In difficult times, do you seek God more or just work harder to fix things?

  3. Paul rejoices and is content in all circumstances. What is his source for that joy and contentment? Do you have the same experience and source? Why or why not? Share and encourage one another honestly.
