The Vanguard University Concert Choir will be leading and singing in worship at all 3 Sunday morning services this weekend at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:11 am.
The Concert Choir is a select ensemble of 72 singers sponsored by the Department of Music at Vanguard University. This ensemble has presented classical, sacred, secular, and contemporary concerts in major concert halls, schools, churches, conferences and conventions throughout the United States. Past concert tours outside of the U.S. have included China, South Korea, Mexico, Europe, Japan, and Canada.
The Vanguard University music ensembles have long been noted for their inspiring and excellent presentation of sacred vocal and instrumental music, including classical, sacred, spirituals, praise and worship, and contemporary Christian arrangements. Under the baton of Dr. James Melton, the Concert Choir has been featured in solo performance at both Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York City 5 times over the past 12 years. His singers and instrumentalists have 18 recording projects to their credit.
Members of the Concert Choir are selected from the over 2,200-member student body and represent most of the 30+ academic majors offered at Vanguard University. Although a large number of students at Vanguard are from the state of California, many come from other states in the U.S., as well as several international countries, including Saudi Arabia, India, Belgium, Portugal, China and South Korea.
