St. Andrew’s Takes Camp Create to Tecate

November 19, 2014 0 Share

On Veteran’s Day Weekend, more than 75 members of the St. Andrew’s family traveled to Tecate, Mexico to build a home for a family in need and to host Camp Create in a Box for 70 local children.  Teachers from a local, Christ-centered ministry, known as Studio del Creador, incorporated the Gospel into painting, percussion and dance classes and our very own Brandon shared a message with all the children about how God uniquely made them, saved them and sent them!  Ringo the Hippo even helped out and provided Spanish translation!

In addition to these large-scale ministries, team members devoted time to cleaning the orphanage, prayer and worship.  During the time of prayer, participants were challenged to listen to God’s leading and to respond in obedience.  One student shared that this was her favorite part of the trip!

As ever, the house build was a dramatic example of God’s love to a family in need.  Despite tough working conditions, team members did a great job.  One celebration was the all-generation nature of the effort as three generations of the Vaughan family joined the build team.  When students got tired, Director of Student Ministries Cody Jensen rallied them with, “If (grandmother) Judy is still working, then so are we!”

We invite you to join us on our next trip May 22-25, 2015!
